FEBRUARY PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT

This month we're launching our new door stoppers!

When used in the right place, door stoppers provide a super effective way to prevent handles hitting the walls.

TOOL TIP

Keeping your hardware looking bright and as good as new doesn’t take much effort at all and in fact most people try too hard and this may actually be the cause of your fittings tarnishing.

All fittings supplied by Schematech have a protective coating that prevents grime from building up, however this coating is also very easily damaged with improper cleaning.

The image above is a clamp that was “building up grime marks”. After cleaning with a mild soap and water solution half the clamp was practically returned to a brand new finish. If you want your hardware to look like the top half of the clamp, there are a few rules you should follow:

Rule #1:
Never use an abrasive medium to clean your fittings. This will damage the protective coating or worse - it will scratch the pristine finish.

Rule #2:
Avoid using heavy or powerful cleaning chemicals and detergents. These are chemicals like ammonia, acetone and bleach that will strip the coating leaving your fittings more exposed than they were before.

Rule #3:
Wiping your fittings down with a soft damp cloth once a week is likely all you will need to maintain their glimmering brightness.

Rule #4:
If a damp cloth simply isn’t enough, then you may enlist the hard cleaning efforts of a mild soapy solution (i.e. lots of warm water and very little soap). This, with your cloth should take care of any grime build up that has gone unchecked for some time.

Rule #5:
Failure to regularly clean your fittings will have you on your hands and knees scrubbing…
